Growing in Christ this Lent

Fr. Tom Verber

Dear Friends,

We hear that Jesus offers us the Good News.  What is the Good News, you ask?  It is that you were born for greater things; Growing in Christ, this means that we increasingly open our hearts to receive Jesus’ love which is always present to us. So let us receive His love in order to make our lives something special- something beautiful for Him.(says Mother St. Theresa.)

How do we do that? One way is to attend the video presentations by Bishop Barron on, “The Mass” here at the parish.  We are offering this 5 week series beginning on March 11th in English at 11am and 7pm., and the 13th in Spanish at 6pm.  Some of our own parishioners were able to be at the taping of “The Mass" videos, so we are very excited to hear from their experience also.  When we presented Bishop Barron’s “Catholicism” series, I counted about 55 participants at each session.

Another popular method of being regularly enriched in Christ is called, “Engage”.  I received feedback from last year and the Lenten messages from Bishop Barron were well received.  Engage, is a super tool to assist you to know, love and serve the good Lord better.  If we have your e-mail address, this is an opportunity to have access to all of  Bishop Barron’s video series, and his talks will definitely nourish your souls.  This email will connect you to the site and it is only available for a limited time.  Click here to join Flocknote and be part of Engage.

One other opportunity is called The University Series.   Around the Santa Barbara region, especially in Ventura parishes, there are seminars connecting faith with real life on a variety of subjects in both English and Spanish.  Click here for more information.

Finally, check out our page on Rediscover Lent to learn more about Lent and other resources available.

Let’s prepare together for Lenten spiritual growth. May God’s amazing grace enliven you.

Fr. Tom
