Anointing of the sick is a sacrament that is offered to those undergoing serious illness or people who have grown weak under the burden of years. In this sacrament a priest anoints the sick with oil blessed specifically for that purpose. "The anointing of the sick can be administered to any member of the faithful who, having reached the use of reason, begins to be in danger by reason of illness or old age" (canon 1004; cf. CCC 1514). A new illness or a worsening of health enables a person to receive the sacrament a further time.
In our parish, if you wish to be anointed, please call the Parish Office at (805) 646-4338 and one of the priests on duty will arrange a convenient time to visit you in your home, nursing home or hospital.
Additionally, during the year, we schedule a number of times to celebrate Anointing of the Sick at Mass. Please listen for announcements at Mass or watch the bulletin for details.
