Larry Shields

Dear Friends,

As many of you already know, Larry Shields has passed away.  We pray for the happy repose of his soul and for comfort for his family.

The arrangements have been made and an invitation has been issued to the St. Thomas Aquinas community to join the family on Saturday, November 26th at Thomas Aquinas College. The Holy Rosary will be recited at 9am followed immediately by a funeral Mass.  

Burial will be at Santa Paula Cemetary.  After the burial there will be a reception at Thomas Aquinas College.

Dear Fellow Prayer Line Members. I am writing from my daughter's home in So Carolina. Last week she received a biopsy report that my 17yr old granddaughter, Claire Fontanella, has a "malignant melanoma, invasive" on her back next to her thoracic spine. This is not a sun-caused melanoma but rather a fast growing kind frequently associated with "adolescents and young adults". The Dec holidays kept the lab results from getting to our family in a timely manner. At this moment our daughter,Danielle, is making arrangements to take Claire to Sloan Kettering Hospital in NY where they specialize in this. Hopefully...Read more

Santa Barbara Region Fire Fund

The Woolsey and Hill Fires now out of control in the southern part of the Santa Barbara Region has forced thousands to flee with no end in sight. Highway closures have many stranded with nowhere to go and the immediate need for food and shelter will soon begin to become apparent. Two of our parishes have also evacuated and altho0ough no buildings have been reported lost, we all know that it will take several days to learn the full extent of any damage or injury.
