Friends,

Our sister, Eileen, has been diagnosed with a rare form of lung cancer. It has matastisized to many other organs in her body. She has had two weeks of radiation to shrink the tumors in her brain and back. Today, Monday,she begin immunotherapy to kill the cancer cells throughout her body. She is a fighter and is using all her energy to combat this illness. Her family, immediate and extended, are providing meals, rides to the doctor, and emotional and spiritual support. As most of you have heard, my sister Carol passed away on September 6. She was initially admitted to St. John's in Oxnard with a diagnosis of pneumonia in mid-August. He neck was swelling and sores appeared on her chest. Her oncologist was on vacation and not much treatment was happening beyond antibiotics and extra oxygen, so after a week there my sister Beth began to advocate for her and to ask for further testing.
